Watch out! – Private Mobiles, Internet Likely to Go Dead from Sep 11 Night
An association of private telecommunication employees has given a call for a strike from the midnight of Tuesday, September 11. Hence all private mobile and Internet services could go off. Only the BSNL service will be in operation.
The president of the body, Udayakumar, speaking in Hubli on Monday, Sep 10, said that the association’s demand that the half-roll employees be given ESI and EPF facilities had not been met. In many cases, salaries had been withheld. To press these demands, an indefinite strike call has been given.
He said that the private telecom towers would not be deactivated by the staff. But the fuel supply to numerous microwave towers in the 25 districts of the state would be affected. As a result, the towers may stop functioning and the networks could go off. Most private subscribers would be inconvenienced, he also said.
